What deserves more of your life now?
For a long time, more can be the right answer.
We work to build more security. We save and invest to create more options. We take on responsibility, build careers and create lives that are supposed to give us greater freedom.
And much of it works.
Then, at some point, the problem changes.
After More is for people who have built a substantial life and are beginning to ask a different question: what actually deserves more of my time, money, attention and energy now?
This isn’t an argument for less. It isn’t minimalism, anti-work, or a retirement manifesto. Some things may deserve less of us. Others may deserve much more.
I write about the decisions that appear when more stops being automatic: whether something worth owning is still worth carrying; when a problem actually requires us now; what ambition is for after achievement; how much is enough; and how we use the freedom, capability and resources we’ve spent years building.
My aim isn’t to give you a formula for a good life. It is to make these decisions easier to see.
A good After More essay should leave you with something worth keeping: language for a tension you recognize, a distinction that changes how you see it, or a better question to bring back to your own life.
I’m Brian. I’m writing from inside these questions rather than pretending to have solved them. The ideas here are tested against real decisions, evidence, other ways of seeing the world, and the possibility that I may change my mind.
If these are questions you’re beginning to ask too, subscribe to After More. It’s free, and new essays will come directly to you by email.
